Civil Process is tasked with providing support services for all Circuit and Superior Courts of Grant County. Our mission includes the service of civil and criminal process, security of the Courthouse, Protection of the Judiciary and its support staff, security of the Juvenile Justice Center, and the transportation of inmates to and from the Courthouse and outside facilities from the jail. This section consists of a Captain, three sworn deputies, eight special deputies and three civilian clerks, who are responsible for preparing civil process to be served and maintaining department records. The special deputies perform protection duties in the Courthouse.

In 2010 the Grant County Sheriff's Department processed 22,534 papers for service, transported 631 inmates to outside facilities and 2,222 inmates to court. 24 fugitives were returned to our jurisdiction via extradition from the following states: New Mexico, West Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Alabama, Georgia, Michgan, Kentucky, Iowa, Ohio, Washington, North Carolina, Louisiana and Tennessee.

The Civil Process Section would not be able to complete these duties if not for the help of the 46 sworn road deputies and assistance by the 9 volunteer reserve deputies.
